You can sing while you sew.
Search some online stores like JoAnn's and find the cozy soft fabric you like. Find 2-3 fabrics and print them out to bring to the store with you.
While your searching for blanket fabric, you'll also need some blanket binding...(Hint: it's with the ribbons)
Play with some colors to match or CONTRAST your blanket material. Have fun with Pops of Color.
Your soft cozy blanket does not have to "go with" anything but it can! You can look around your bedroom or living room for some color or pattern ideas.
Go to your local fabric store like JoAnns or Handcocks Fabrics and start looking. The comfy cozy blanket material will be near the flece (you could use flece if you will).
There might be some FABRIC SALES!! Check these out 1st. Sometimes using a natural or nutural color will allow you to have a fun color pop for your blanket binding.
While searching make sure you've downloaded the JoAnn's app! If your somewhere else search the web for their weekly fabric coupons and specials. You'll thank me at the register. Soft cozy blankets can be costly even when it's your DIY Soft Blanket.
Look around and find some you like. When you find one or two, grab the roll and ask to put it on the fabric cutting station.
Go over to the ribbons and blanket binding wall. It's the stand with all the colors of ribbons. Pick out a few of the large 2 inch blanket bindings. Bring them over to your blanket fabric and match them next to each other. Don't be shy and have some fun with it.
By now I've narrowed it down to the blanket fabric I want and 2 blanket bindings I'm considering.
Now you'll need some assistance for cutting the fabric. You'll need a yard and 1/2 for a blanket big enough for you. Big enough for 2? Double it and double your work. ;)
Hint: You can make 2 baby blankets or children's blankets with a yard and 1/2!
While they're cutting your fabric, play again with the 2 different bindings. Yep go with the gut... That one will look fantastic.
Your all set to start putting together your blanket...so just bring it over to my studio and I'll sew it all up in a bundle for you!
Kidding... That will cost you a pretty penny. Take a break and we'll figure out logistics next in Part Deux!
We'll sew it together!
